The Blooming Fields is
a unique nursery and garden center in rural Alberta, located between
Olds and Didsbury. It is a beautiful and serene place with a gorgeous
view of the Rocky Mountains.
In the middle of our garden
centre you find an intimate licenced restaurant. We serve healthy lunches,
mostly prepared with fruit and vegetables from our organic garden, but
our specialty is High Tea. High Tea is an English tradition. It is originally
served late in the afternoon, but we are happy to serve you High Tea
all day.
For those amongst you who
have a gluten intollerance, we have a variety of gluten free breads
and desserts. You don't have to feel left-out anymore if you are celiac.
Lunch at the Blooming Fields will be a delight for all.
Our
restaurant is decorated with an unique collection of giftware. Anything
from jewelry and purses, to tea sets and garden trinkets. This comes
at very affordable prices. The Blooming Fields is an ideal place for
a girls-get-together, since it combines gardens, food and shopping,
but these days we also see a lot of men enjoying our food and our gardens.
In the last 2 years
we've had several wedding ceremonies and receptions on our grounds.
The gardens and mountains are a perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding.
If you celebrate your wedding at The Blooming Fields, you have 27 acres
of paradise to create the most magnificent wedding party ever dreamt
of.
This year our U-Pick is
undergoing some drastic changes. We have decided to stop the production
of strawberries. Over the last 5 years we've tried to grow a decent
crop, but it has failed to be successful. It was a hard decision to
let go of the strawberries, but we hope we can make up for this by growing
a greater variety of other fruits. Part of the decision was our desire
to move towards organic produce, which didn't work for the strawberries
at our place.Last year our veggies were already pesticide free, this
year we are moving towards pesticide free fruit and trees. So... that's
the news on our U-pick. We are very excited to move away from working
with chemicals. In the past we tried to use chemicals as scacely as
possible,in the next years we want to eliminate chemicals at all. Pim
took several classes in biological fertilizing and pest managment, and
we even went to Cuba with Organic Alberta to learn from the farmers
there.
We
hope to see many of you (again) this year. Our place is an evolving place,
and we like you to see all the new and exciting things for yourself.
