The Blooming Fields 5 years

This year will be the 5th operating year for The Blooming Fields. What started out as a small nursery with tiny plants,a hesitating u-pick, and tea house with some gifts has evolved over the last 5 years in a blooming successful operation. The Blooming Fields has now a fully grown tree nursery. Every section of the 27 acre property is planted .
A mature U-pick section for berries and veggies now offers strawberries, raspberries, saskatoons, black currants, and all kinds of vegetables. The fist seeds for lettuce and peas are already coming up in the greenhouse. Their tea house serves more than tea and lunch. During their last fall/winter season they had dinner evenings every Friday and Saturday night, which were a big hit. The gift section in the tea house has grown larger and larger each year and is now almost too big to fit into the place.

Pim van Oeveren, the owner/operator of the nursery at The Blooming fields enjoys a great reputation as a connoisseur and grower of hardy trees, annuals and perennials. The trees and shrubs are grown on the 27 acre property. There is no climate shock for the plants grown at The Blooming Fields, as they've endured the same harsh winter and spring as we all did, and are familiar with the Alberta climate in your yard or garden . The perennials are all chosen for their hardiness and come from a high quality nursery in BC. There is not enough good spring weather in Alberta to grow these plants and have a nice looking plant to sell in May and June.

In the nursery you'll also find two ponds and a variety of animals. The ponds will be populatedwith trout this coming year. the petting zoo, which already consists pet rooster Henry, 2 alpaca's named Cramer and George, and the always friendly wandering tomcat Paul, will welcome 6 new lambs.

Due to the increased popularity of the place, and the publics wish to be able to enjoy the tea house on the weekends as well, The Blooming Fields has decide to open up their doors on Sundays as well. The new opening hours are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from 10-5, with the exception of Sundays when they will open at twelve and will serve a delicious country side brunch.

Private functions up to 45 people are getting more and more popular, as people appreciate the nice, calm setting with mountain view; the relaxed atmosphere and more than anything else the great food prepared by Mary-Ann and her staff at The Blooming Fields.
