Scratchings from

In early August Pim and Mary-Ann had 16 children and 5 adults out from the Didsbury Summer Fun Camp.
I had a great time trying to get some handouts from the children - it was such fun !

While they were here, they dug potatoes and as I was trying to get in between them to snag a little spud for myself I heard that only one of them had known how pototoes grew - I was shocked !

Later on they were picking saskatoons - mmm I love those saskatoon berries. I snuck in with the kids and tryed to keep low as I ate those juicy sweet berries.

Pim toured the children around and told them stories about the different flowers and vegetables and he also told him my favorite story about when the queen passed by The Blooming Fields on a train. She put her head out of the window looking at the beautiful views of The Blooming Fields (and of course the most perfect rooster she had ever seen) when suddenly her crown blew off !
In the passing years the gold has worn away but the crown is still sitting where it landed - on top of a post !

The children had a picnic then after lunch they had fun making bannock and roasting it over a campfire. They wound up their day making freezer jam - oh what a fun day I had running after the children and getting good snacks to eat all day!

until next time.
